Fishing / Spoonplugging

August-September is all about catching chinook salmon  on Lake Michigan. Best time is to have your lure in front of the fish as soon as it is  light enough for the fish to see it. Cal has a big lake 16 ft boat with downriggers and is looking for fishing companions. It takes 3 people to troll for salmon. Evening is the next best time. But at sunrise the lake is ordinarily flatter and more comfortable. August is also usually a pretty flat wave action month.

Five foot waves are easy to navigate in, but tricky to fish in. And some folks cannot stomach that much wave action. One foot or less is very good. Wave height forecast is here.

Lunker Hunters/Spoonpluggers club meets on the first Thursday of each month, 7 pm,  at the clubhouse of Leisure Village on Cannonsburg Rd. Everyone welcome.
